Hides Hotel asked NTD to take over the maintenance of the NEC PABX system from Telstra in 1996. Since then we have had an excellent working relationship and consequently when their old system finally decided to “retire” Hides parent company, Club Crocodile, came to us to find a reliable and cost effective solution.

The Hotel has 101 guest rooms and 12 office / administration extensions. The solution we recommended was the LG Aria 300 Hospitality PABX system. This system was chosen because it has in–built hotel application software which means it doesn’t require special expensive external based software to provide the Hotel / motel functionality the client required. The Aria 300’s feature set included Room Cleaned status, guest set wake up calls, wake up call alarm, guest name display, direct in-dial, Guest voicemail services, guest internet services, the list goes on.

Previously with resorts over around 80 rooms the PABX options available were usually classified as a ‘high end” product, meaning capital investment could be quite substantial. This is where the Aria 300 comes into it’s own. There is not a system available in the Australian market that can match the Aria 300 for functionality, future proofing AND investment value.

The client is also looking to install the same system into their Club Crocodile Resort in Airlie Beach , with around 240 rooms, as well as Long Island Resort in the Whitsunday’s , which is around 280 rooms.

MacDonnell’s Solicitors, Cairns largest Law firm, chose the NEC Xen Master digital PBX system for their new offices in Grafton Street Cairns.

MacDonnell’s specific needs included; Integrated Voicemail, which had to be easy to use , Direct In-dial so clients could call direct to their Solicitor, and Digital Display Telephones for all 90 staff.

MacDonnell’s chose to have all digital display telephones to help facilitate faster and more efficient call handling. Also with the Xen Masters Calling Number Display they can see which client is calling before picking up the handset receiver. Another very important requirement is that the system had to interface to their billing and management software program, which is called “SOFTLOG”. This program his very common in both Legal and Accounting practices and, as NEC has been a well established supplier to both these professions for many years, the NEC Xen Master was the logical choice.

MacDonnell’s Solicitors also have offices in Townsville and Brisbane and wanted to have the same systems in these locations so when staff moved between offices they would be familiar with the systems operation. With the NEC product we were able to provide “uniform” service between each centre due to NEC’s extensive dealer network. NTD is able to co-ordinate service in each of these centres. The Xen’s flexibility and ease of use also means the staff spend more time doing their work then trying to operate the telephone system.

Other major Law firms in the region which use the NEC Xen system are; Millar Harris Lawyers, Williams, Graham Carman Solicitors, and Gayler Cleland Towne.
